7×7

1999

Live performance (movement, sound, voice)

In 1990 Nelson Mandela was released from prison having spent 27yrs in a 7×7 meter space. This solo live performance was created using the confines of a 7×7 meter space, which was masked out on the floor at the start of the performance. The choreography for the piece unfolded within and on the borders of this space. A sound montage was also created using found-sounds from Welsh political prisoners, live and pre-recorded vocal techniques and layered samples.
