Participatory, collective bike performance about energy transfer
WHEN AND WHERE
April, 2007 as part of the Enter_Unknown Territories Festival, Cambridge, UK
ABOUT COME OUTSIDE
First performed at the Enter_ Unknown Territories Festival, Polar Produce invited people to 'Come Outside' for a bike ride. Cycling from the Enter festival Domes in the heart of Cambridge's city park, Parker Piece, to a secret picturesque spot. Bicycles were provided with custom-made dynamo battery chargers. The energy generated as participants peddled was harnessed to boil a kettle for a cup of tea, which was followed by a short informal lecture on energy transfer.SUPPORT AND THANKS
Thanks to the Enter_ festival for supporting the first iteration of 'Come Outside', to Tom Bugs for his input and co-development on the batteries and to CityCycle Hire (www.citycyclehire.com) for providing the bikes.
