ABOUT NIP 2006?

N.I.P. - New Interfaces for Performance is series of touring workshops and live public events, which focus on the development of new interfaces and modes of expression within live performance (eg in music, theatre, design, live and visual art). The aim of NIP is to build a community of established and emerging international practitioners interested in developing new modes of performance interaction.

N.I.P. 2006 was held as part of Venn Music Festival in the John Wesley New Rooms, Bristol on 3rd June 2006. Polar Produce invited solo artists and musicians to collaboratively create a shared, improvised composition. Following a set of simple rules devised by Polar Produce, the artists were asked to respond to each other and the acoustic properties of the John Wesley New Room. Playing in cycles of fifteen minutes, for three hours, each artists individual piece contributed to creating an evocative collective composition.
