Animals, listening, audio ecologies
WHEN AND WHERE
Venn Music Festival, Bristol, 2nd June 2007
For the first time in 2007, Venn Music Festival will extend their programme to include Venn Art. Polar Produce will be co-ordinating this aspect of Venn, working with various local and national artists such as The Special Guests, Le Couteau Jaune, Carly H, Mr. Hopkinson, Lucy Ward and Poppy Stephenson to create location based, performative, DIY works. As part of the Venn Art, Polar Produce will be creating The Listening Chair: Part 1.
WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Sit back and listen to the world like an animal.
The Listening Chair is Polar Produce's first output as part of their ongoing exploration into audio ecologies and new ways of listening. The chair will be positioned outside of the Arnolfini, where audiences and passer-bys will be invited sit back in the chair and 'listen' to the environment like an animal. Using a directional mic, computer and headphones, the piece is a primary exploration into the frequencies, effects and technologies necessary for creating such experinces.
For The Listening Chair: Part 1, audiences will be able to listen to the world like a barn owl.
