ABOUT
Created in the window of the G9 Gallery in Cardiff, Wales. The window was turned into a voyeuristic setting – red drapes, two chairs and a camera. Part-Victorian salon, part-peep-show, part-fashion display, sitting on one chair, blindfolded for 10hrs with a laptop on which snippets from passer-bys, comments, heckles etc were typed and recorded. A hidden camera also recorded passer-bys reactions.

The visual presentation of the piece played with several layers of communication and how when we block particular senses (e.g., sight), we accentuate others. This leads to hypersensitive as the fully functioning senses over compensate for the loss, leading to the exposure of new points of view.

The framing in the window also played with ideas of intrusion and intrigue – how far we want to go to touch or feel if the other is ‘real’. The outputs of the performance (conversations and video) was installed in the gallery, alongside the window props for three-weeks, as a trace of the event.
